A sagging abdominal wall is not uncommon after pregnancy or weight loss. Skin aging can also leave its mark over the years and affect the once firm abdominal wall. In such cases, surgical tightening can restore a youthful, firm appearance.
During a tummy tuck in Zurich, sagging skin is removed and separated muscles are brought back together. Stubborn fat deposits can also be specifically removed by liposuction. The abdominal wall is precisely shaped and tightened to attractively emphasize your waist.
At KALEIDOSCOP in Zurich, you will be treated by an experienced team of specialists led by Dr. Köhler. Our experts take the time to plan your tummy tuck in Zurich individually—for a gently tightened body shape that suits you perfectly.
Information about tummy tuck
Definition of tummy tuck
A tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty or abdominal wall plastic surgery, is a procedure for surgically tightening the abdominal wall. Sagging skin is removed, separated abdominal muscles are brought back together, and local fat deposits are liposuctioned if necessary. This creates a firm and well-defined midriff with a beautiful waistline.
We distinguish between partial tummy tucks, also known as mini tummy tucks, and full tummy tucks. Mini tummy tucks are limited to the lower abdomen, while full tummy tucks in Zurich involve the entire abdomen.
Reasons for a tummy tuck
The decision to undergo a tummy tuck in Zurich is often based on aesthetic reasons. However, there are also cases in which excess skin causes discomfort. In such cases, abdominoplasty is also medically indicated.
Possible reasons for a tummy tuck in Zurich may include:
- Loose skin affects aesthetics
- Separated abdominal muscles (rectus diastasis)
- Excess skin after weight loss
- Skin irritation or limited mobility
- desire for a firmer midriff
- The desire for a defined waist

Abdominoplasty procedure
Preparation for treatment
For many of our clients, a tummy tuck in Zurich is the first step toward a new life. That is why we take a lot of time to carefully plan your abdominoplasty. Dr. Köhler will discuss your wishes with you personally and advise you on the most suitable procedure.
Some preliminary examinations may be necessary to check your health. Hormone-containing and blood-thinning medications should be discontinued before the operation. We also recommend reducing nicotine and alcohol consumption to a minimum.
Performing the tummy tuck
Depending on the extent of the surgery, a tummy tuck in Zurich can be performed on an Outpatient basis or during a short inpatient stay. Dr. Köhler will be happy to advise you on how to make the procedure as safe and comfortable as possible for you. The surgery is performed under twilight sedation and takes several hours.
During a tummy tuck in Zurich, a horizontal incision is made above the genital area and the skin is detached from the underlying tissue so that it can be tightened towards the pubic area. If necessary, separated muscles can be brought back together and fixed in place.
The navel is detached from the skin via a ring-shaped incision. After skin tightening, the navel is repositioned by creating a new opening. This returns the navel to its original, natural position. In the case of a partial tummy tuck of the lower abdomen, the navel may remain untouched under certain circumstances.
Aftercare
After your tummy tuck in Zurich, you will be fitted with a compression garment that you should wear for 6 weeks. The garment counteracts swelling, supports Wound healing, and contributes to an attractive result.
Take at least 14 days off work and ask for help with everyday tasks. You should refrain from sports and other strenuous activities for at least one month. You can shower shortly after the operation with an adhesive bandage.
To ensure that the surgical wounds heal optimally, scar care with special products is recommended. We will be happy to advise you on this. Also, be sure to protect the fresh scars from the sun for the first six months to prevent discoloration.

Frequently asked questions about abdominoplasty
Will scars remain visible after a tummy tuck?
Scars are unavoidable when tightening the abdomen. To achieve an aesthetic result, Dr. Köhler attaches great importance to the skillful placement of incisions in inconspicuous areas.
In most cases, a horizontal incision is made in the bikini line. For larger corrections, an additional vertical incision in the middle of the abdomen may be necessary. In addition, there will be a ring-shaped scar around the navel if it needs to be repositioned.
Noticeable scars immediately after a tummy tuck in Zurich are no cause for concern. With careful care, the appearance of the scars can improve even a year later.
Can you get pregnant again after a tummy tuck?
There is generally nothing to prevent pregnancy. It should be noted that the abdomen may change again during pregnancy. If you are planning to become pregnant in the near future, you should therefore wait until after the birth to have your operation if possible.
Is a tummy tuck advisable for people who are severely overweight?
A tummy tuck in Zurich can be a good idea if you are overweight and the sagging skin is causing you problems. The excess skin is permanently removed during a tummy tuck in Zurich.
If you are significantly overweight, you should pay particular attention to aftercare, as the risk of infection may be slightly increased. Of course, we are always there for you during this time and will accompany you until you have fully recovered.
What are the risks of a tummy tuck?
Possible complications of a tummy tuck include swelling, post-operative bleeding, infections, and wound healing disorders. Sensitivity may be temporarily reduced, but this should normalize as Healing progresses.
If the navel has been repositioned, inflammation or changes in shape may occur in isolated cases.
Inadequate aftercare or significant weight gain can lead to the formation of dents or tissue adhesions.
Mild to moderate wound pain is completely normal in the first few days and can be relieved with pain medication.
How often can a tummy tuck be performed?
A tummy tuck can be repeated as often as necessary in Zurich. However, follow-up surgery is not usually necessary.
We recommend that you maintain a stable body weight and a healthy lifestyle after your tummy tuck in Zurich so that you can enjoy the long-term benefits of your surgery.
How long does a tummy tuck procedure take?
Depending on the amount of tightening required, a tummy tuck in Zurich takes about 2-4 hours. The duration may be slightly longer for very complex corrections or if you also want to have abdominal fat removed.
What happens to the belly button during the surgery?
In a mini tummy tuck, only the lower abdomen below the navel is tightened. Depending on the extent of the tightening, it may not be necessary to reposition the navel.
In all other cases, the belly button usually has to be repositioned. To do this, it is detached from the abdominal wall, the skin is tightened towards the bikini line, and then a new position for the belly button is created at its original height. Basically, the belly button remains in its position—only the surrounding skin is repositioned.
Can a tummy tuck be combined with other procedures?
If desired, a tummy tuck in Zurich can be combined with liposuction if you would like to have unwanted belly fat removed. This further improves the aesthetics of the midriff.
We are also happy to plan your tummy tuck in Zurich as part of a mommy makeover. This involves specifically correcting individual traces of pregnancy, for example through a breast lift, breast augmentation, or liposuction. Larger treatments should be performed in separate procedures if necessary to keep the strain to a minimum.
When will I see the final results of a tummy tuck, and how long will they last?
It can take a year or more for the healing process to be complete and the scar to heal nicely. However, around 14 days after your tummy tuck, you will be largely socially presentable again and able to return to work.
The longevity of the results of a tummy tuck is permanent. However, the abdominal wall can change again due to weight fluctuations or pregnancy. We therefore recommend that you only undergo a tummy tuck in Zurich once you have completed your family planning and your weight is stable.
How much does a tummy tuck cost in Zurich?
The cost of a tummy tuck in Zurich depends greatly on the treatment required. If you are interested, our team of specialists led by Dr. Köhler will be happy to provide you with a no-obligation consultation. During the consultation, you will receive a personalized treatment recommendation including a cost estimate.
